AFL SUSPENDS OPERATIONS INDEFINITELY

The Arena Football League has announced - effective August 4, 2009 - that it will suspend operations indefinitely. After using the then suspended 2009 season to work towards a new business model for a possible return of league play in 2010, the AFL Board of Directors were unable to reach a general consensus on restructuring the league.

"The entire Dallas Desperados organization is saddened by the decision by the AFL to suspend the league indefinitely," said Desperados Chief Operating Officer Shy Anderson. "We have enjoyed our years in the league providing solid entertainment to not only the countless and dedicated fans of the Dallas Desperados, but to the fans of the AFL itself. We would like to thank all of the fans of the team and the league for their continued and loyal support, and would like them to know that this great sport will be dearly missed by each and every member of our organization."

The Desperados were a member of the AFL for seven seasons, with the inaugural season held in 2002. During that time, the team compiled a record of 71-38-1 (.650), which included a league record 15-1 season in 2007 while also collecting back-to-back Eastern Division titles in 2006-07.

Fans who have purchased 2010 Desperados season tickets or groups tickets should contact the Dallas Cowboys ticket office at 817-892-5000 for more information concerning refund and reimbursement.
