So I have a confession to make to you: I cheated last night. And I'll probably cheat some more in the future. I'm just being honest. Gulp, here goes: I went to the Mavericks' game Monday night and I'll be going to more games here in the future. I'll continue to blog on the Cowboys and give you updates along the way, but my duties will be split a little. Don't you worry, you're my...

Dallas Morning News columnist Kevin Sherrington answered your questions about the Cowboys. Some highlights ... On what it will take for the Cowboys to win Super Bowl XLV: No significant injuries to key players, upgrade in the OL and at safety, continued improvement by Tony Romo and Miles Austin, balanced play-calling by Jason Garrett, bigger role for Felix Jones and more of the same from defense. On trading Marion Barber for a draft pick: Depends...
I saw some of the comments on LaDainian Tomlinson's release from San Diego with some people saying the Cowboys should make a play for the TCU-ex. Hopefully I'm missing the sarcasm in those posts, buy why would the Cowboys want him? They have three running backs in Felix Jones, Marion Barber and Tashard Choice that are younger and healthier and, as a group, more productive. I can remember a run against the Cowboys that the...
In the grand scheme of things, this post will not mean the difference between a Cowboys' appearance in a Super Bowl but who will serve as the holder in 2010? Tony Romo played the good teammate and leader by volunteering for the job late last season. You didn't hear any complaints about his holds from Nick Folk or Shaun Suisham. He is pretty natural with it, but let's be honest he should never be in...
Once seen as a threat to Emmitt Smith's rushing record, San Diego has released LaDainian Tomlinson further emphasizing its need for a running back. Backup Darren Sproles is a free agent, so I guess they could pay him some cash to remain with the Chargers. And we've all heard that Antonio Cromartie has been made available. The Cowboys were not interested in Cromartie and they don't want to part with Tashard Choice. In nine years...
From Frank Fitzpatrick, Philadelphia Inquirer Mark Sciarotta, a devoted Eagles fan, was at the U.S.-Norway men's hockey game Thursday with his wife and three children. Sciarotta spotted Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones seated a few rows ahead. He pointed him out to his 4 1/2-year-old son, River. "That," he told him, "is the man who owns the Cowboys." After their team's 6-1 victory, Jones walked past the Sciarottas as he was leaving. The young 4...

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones recently talked about the Manny Pacquiao-Joshua Clottey fight at Cowboys Stadium on March 13 to ESPN Radio: Some highlights: "I spent two days in Mexico. They are such huge boxing fans, the biggest boxing fans in the world today are Mexican sports fans. That aligns beautifully with our fans, with what we want to do with the Dallas Cowboys. I was still heart-broke over not getting to play in the (NFC)...
The Dallas Cowoys produced only 44 points on their first possession of the halves for all 18 games last season. Brad, an astute contributor, said that could be attributed to the numerous third-and-longs the Cowboys face when opening a half with Marion Barber at running back. Give Brad a prize. The Cowboys had 42 third-down plays on their opening possessions of the halves last season. They needed seven-plus yards on 24 of those plays. Third-and-longs...
Thirty years ago today the United States beat the Soviet Union, 4-3, at Lake Placid in the 1980 Winter Olympics. I can still remember running up and down the hall of my house when Mike Eruzione scored the game-winner. Years later I had a chance to interview almost every member of that team for a reunion. It was amazing to hear their stories not just about beating the Soviets, but the team they became. Every...

We told you a long time ago that cutting Roy Williams make little sense because of a $9.5 million bonus that is fully guaranteed. There's even more to it than that. Around $2 million of Williams' $3.452 million base salary is guaranteed as well, to bring the total guaranteed money to $27 million. I mentioned this on the chat the other day, but Jerry Jones isn't going to pay actually money to a guy to...
Check out the photos of Cowboys owner Jerry Jones at the Olympics....
The Cowboys are considering having at least a portion of training camp in Oxnard, Calif., this summer. Camp will open in San Antonio and they will be there for at least two weeks, which is just fine with the people that run the Alamodome. In a lot of ways, the Alamodome is a great place to run training camp. The climate-controlled atmosphere means more work can be done on the field and keep the players... |
