James Yuill has finally finished his second Sample Me Up. Here is what he got to say about it:
“I hope that when people listen to the tracks they initially try to hear all the samples, but then get lost and just listen to it as a song rather than a collection of random sounds.
The reason I started the Sample Me Up Project is because I wanted the people who listen to my music to get involved in helping me actually create new music. I know a lot of artists ask their fans to help with remixes and artwork. I actually thought it would be quite interesting to crowd source the actual music itself (albeit samples). So here we are!
I’d also like to use this opportunity to unveil my next little project. This one is in the form of a video competition. I’m looking for people to make a video to any one of my Sample Me Up tracks. Shove them on youtube and send me a link. I will eventually choose a winner, who will then get the chance to make the video for one of my future singles.
Lastly, I’d like to say a big thank you to all the people that sent in samples for my project!”
BONUS: Their bumping remix of the track “Trollsta” (single will drop October 13th) from up and coming Austin producer Dubbel Dutch, been a secret weapon in our sets for a while now so go grab it. (Thanks to Palms Out)
Greg from Acid Girls passed this onto to all of us Grindin peeps yesterday, it’s not really the style we’ve grown accustomed to from Acid Girls but it’s the perfect workday mix right now. Acid Girls will be going on tour soon together with Jokers Of The Scene, they’re also heading over to Europe in January + you shouldn’t forget to check out their recently released single “The Numbers Song” (we posted it here).
Midget house pioneer Solo will be playing at the Dance On Glass party tomorrow night (Friday October 9th). Dance On Glass is is a monthly party at The Westbury in London and Solo made a mix to promote the event. If you’re in London we suggest you go to this since he will whip up a frenzy on the dancefloor.
Derek over at Neon Gold sent this to the Grindin crew yesterday. “Under The Sheets” is another huge track from British singstress Ellie Goulding and it’s shimmering pop awesomeness with Starsmith handling the production once again. This is also Ellie Gouldings debut single and it will be released by Neon Gold on November 9th. Remixes coming from Jakwob, Baby Monster, Theophilus London and a bunch more.
Two of the most hyped up (and rightly so) dj’s/producers at the moment, L-Vis 1990 and Bok Bok, were recently invited to Londons premier radio station Rinse FM for a little b2b action and they sure did well on this one. One mighty mix/podcast of the best the UK has to offer.
New single from Australian wonder Miami Horror. “Sometimes” is the first single off his debut album “Illumination” which is slated for a 2010 release and the track itself does a pretty good job of being smooth electropop yet still keeping an ear to the dancefloor.
