Thank you Professor Jane. The NEATS model is probably a strong one.

duponthumanite Replied:

What I especially liked was the emphasis on executive function and attachment.

Hi, Adelaide. The NEATS pulls a lot of information together. It helps in understanding complex situations. Jane Gilgun

"Neglect of German" and "The tragic isolation of Germany" are chapters I'm particularly interested in. Would also like to read about Goethe and Frederick the Great.

It's great if you want to read more of the history and theory of a great educator.

I liked the "Don't stop at the gift shop". The four metaphorical stores pretty much said it all.

So agree---empathy and kindness are needed more often than they are dispersed.

No, we shouldn't lust after evil things. Good speech/sermon to think about as we go into Lent.

Thank you for your points on Paul. It's interesting to see him from an Islamic perspective. Do you think he was a true prophet, who did his best to spread the Gospel?

Yes, but contradiction happens when any book is not edited by its original author.

Found the reading on hospitals particularly informative. Great historical perspective on medicine during the Renaissance. I was aware of the "Prince of Physicians" previous to reading this.

Julie Powell is one great example. It's good to see that food and wine continue to be big sellers, whatever the media. Though, really, you buy a social presence and continuity.

I think the monomyth structure is so important. Unity of time, place. The classical format. Archetypes and conflict are helpful too.

I agree D, took a wonderful film class devoted to this while in UCLA writing program.

I think some readers might be interested in a book called Dictator Clock: 5,000 Years of Telling Time by Roger Burlinghame from 1966. It is a very political and scientific book, and I read about it in MATTERS OF FACT by Margery Fisher.

Explain, please. I don't understand.
