operatic pulp. Lightning cracks, rain soaks cemeteries and kiddie ghosts
haunt Leonardo DiCaprio, who looks period chic, chain-smoking in a fedora
and trench coat.

It's dense. It's stark. And it's almost like an anthropological Clifford
Geertz study — a so-called thick description of the cultural roots of
fascism in a small German town on the eve of World War I. Still, it's much
more than that.
Just because they're short doesn't make them any less entertaining, important
or meaningful.
