SAN ANGELO, Texas — Remains found at a reservoir have been identified as a San Angelo teen missing for nearly two decades in a murder case.

Monica Joy Martinez was 18-year-old when she disappeared in 1992.

Law officers and court officials on Thursday said DNA testing led to the positive ID of remains found in November 2008 by some hunters at Twin Buttes Reservoir.

Martinez was reported missing April 1, 1992. Police said her disappearance was a homicide.

Her ex-boyfriend, Robert Villescaz, and Timothy James Rodriguez in 1997 pleaded guilty to murder. Villescaz was sentenced to 40 years. Rodriguez received a 75-year prison term.

Sgt. Rusty Herndon says the pair picked up Martinez to go to a party. Herndon says the men were under the influence of drugs the night of the slaying.

Details on how Martinez died were not immediately released.
