Plano police officer Ray Arthur Wildes, 37, faces a charge of intoxication assault in the early Friday morning accident at Legacy Drive and Central Expressway, according to a report released by the department. Police say that Wildes ran a red light at the intersection and hit a Plano police patrol car driven by Kenneth W. Foale, 29. Both officers were hospitalized, and Wildes remained in the hospital Tuesday night, the report states. According to the report, Wildes was speeding and "had an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath and was intoxicated." Here's a copy of the Plano police report. (Thanks to DMN's Scott Goldstein for uploading the report.) Comments |
Am I reading that correctly...his Geico insurance was expired? It will be interesting to see how this one ends.

Only the irony outweighs the sadness of this event. I hope they both make a speedy recovery.
Nothing like making you look stupid by appearing to not be accepting your comment so you enter it twice. How about a delete button? Sorry about that.
So let me get this straight...you posted another entry to share your beef on not being able to get rid of an entry? Makes total sense...
Congratulations! You've passed the Plano Citizenship Test. Next on your agenda should be running for Plano ISD School Board, unless of course you're already there.
Maybe if Plano traffic signals worked the same for all intersections drivers behavior could be more predictable. I also bet an extra 1/2 second added to all yellow lights during the transitions couyld go a long way in solving many of the probelms at intersections with traffic signals.
I just don't see how we can expect an officer to enforce a law if he doesn't have the respect to obey it himself.
A cop is a cop 24 hours a day, so this cop should be held accountable, 24 hours a day. Luckily the media got a hold of this before it was covered up.
So he does have insurance, it was an old card in his car. But hopefully, the drunk driving will stop. Cops can get away with this because it's a fellow cop who will pull them over. I get the professional courtesy and all, but eventually something like this will happen. And this will still be covered up.
