The National Weather Service in Corpus Christi has issued a
freeze warning... which is in effect from 3 am to 9 am CST
Wednesday. This freeze warning is for the counties of Goliad and
Victoria.

A cold dome of high pressure will settle into south Texas
overnight Wednesday morning. As winds decrease overnight...
temperatures will fall more readily after midnight. Temperatures
are expected to be near or below freezing from a few hours before
sunrise until an hour or two after sunrise.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A freeze warning is issued when temperatures are forecast to
reach 32 degrees or colder for 2 hours or longer.

Freezing temperatures can damage certain kinds of plants. As a
result... those with agricultural interests in the warned area are
advised to protect tender vegetation. Pets should be kept inside.
Outside pipes or sprinklers should be adequately insulated.

Lake Wind Advisory
Statement as of 10:25 am CST on February 9, 2010

... Lake Wind Advisory remains in effect until 4 PM CST this
afternoon...

A lake Wind Advisory remains in effect until 4 PM CST this
afternoon.

North to northwest winds of 20 to 25 mph can be expected behind a
strong cold front that moved through the region last night. Winds
are expected to decrease late this afternoon.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A lake Wind Advisory indicates that winds will cause rough chop
on area lakes. Small boats will be especially prone to capsizing.

Special Weather Statement
Statement as of 4:10 am CST on February 9, 2010

... Cool and wet weather expected Wednesday through Thursday night...

... Slight chance for a wintry mix on Wednesday over northwestern
portions of south Texas...

A cold dome of high pressure... behind a cold front which moved
through south Texas Monday night... will result in much colder
temperatures today. Temperatures are expected to remain well
below normal through Thursday night... before the cold high
pressure system begins to move northeast late Friday. High
temperatures will barely make it into the 50s today... as colder
air continues to filter into south Texas.

Lows temperatures tonight through Thursday night are generally
expected to be in the 30s over inland areas... with lower 40s along
the coast. Temperatures early Wednesday morning are expected to
fall to below freezing over some areas... mainly north and east of
a Beeville to Refugio to Port Lavaca line.

A coastal trough will develop on Wednesday... allowing moisture to
lift along the frontal boundary and bring rain to most of south
Texas by Wednesday afternoon. Some of this rain could be mixed
with some light sleet on Wednesday... mainly near and north of a
Laredo to Freer to Three Rivers line. No accumulations are
expected... as the precipitation is expected to be light. Highs
on Wednesday and Thursday are expected to stay below 50 degrees
area-wide.

Rain chances will increase on Wednesday night and Thursday as the
surface trough deepens and brings better moisture to south Texas.
Rainfall chances will begin to diminish Thursday night as the
surface low begins to move east. Rainfall amounts from Wednesday
through Thursday night are expected to range from around three
quarters of an inch near the Rio Grande to near one and one half
inches near the coastal areas. Temperatures above the surface are
expected to warm sufficiently by Wednesday night to keep all
precipitation in liquid form. Since the rainfall will accumulate
for 24 to 36 hours or more... no significant flooding is expected
although ponding on streets and roads can be expected in some
locations and some minor flooding is possible over low-lying
areas.

Clouds will decrease on Friday as the chance for rain ends... with
temperatures warming from near 60 to the mid 60s Friday afternoon.

on this weather event.
