SHOE OF THE WEEK: Stylish rain boots

A cold, messy rain has hovered over Houston the last few days, and I have no rain boots. Each year, I tell myself I'll get a pair, but the rain stops and I forget about it - until it rains again.

So I'm on the Internet searching for cheap, stylish ones. The result: Target. The retailer has the most affordable variety in many styles and colors from $19.99 to $24.99 at www.target.com. I just ordered these below. Of course, by the time I get them, the rain will have stopped. No worries. This is Houston, and it'll come again.

What Turns You On?

If you've ever watched Bravo's Millionaire Matchmaker, you know how direct matchmaker Patti Stanger can be. She pulls no punches, especially when it comes to dating fashion. She says: Men don't like ruffles, bling bling or baby-doll dresses on women. "Men like to unwrap the present," she recently told People magazine.

So with Valentine's Day around the corner, I thought it would fun to see what my Facebook and Twitter friends had to say about what turns them on and off when it comes to the clothing on the opposite sex.

Here are the results:

MEN LIKE: Halter tops; fitting jeans; open-toe shoes with manicured toes; sundresses; business suits; wrap dresses; dresses with back cleavage, only on nice backs, mini skirts, frontal cleavage, eyeglasses with pinned-up hair, men's dress shirts and nothing else.

MEN DON'T LIKE: Hooker wear; low-rise jeans/pants; bloomers (Granny panties); turtlenecks; ill-fitting clothes; chipped polish; tacky or sleezy outfits, frompy or too big clothing.

Hats are back, and no your head isn't too big

Most women, and even some men, have a love-hate relationship with hats. They like them well enough, just not on their own heads. Famed milliner Philip Treacy was in town Monday at Neiman Marcus showing off his spring collection. Since he rarely visits Texas, take his presence to mean hats are heating up for spring.

Here are few extreme varieties from the recent Fashion Week in Brazil:

Would you wear a nude bodysuit?

My fashion sensibilities are slightly alarmed by the number of nude body suits popping up on celebrities. First, J.Lo. wore one onstage at a New Year's Day bash and now Pink took a twirl in one at the recent Grammy Awards. This is one trend most real women, including me, should steer clear of.

But if you do decide to wear your nude bodysuit for outwear, you'll love the $39.99 version from TV's favorite infomercial, Kymaro Body Shapers!
