The Student Development Office facilitates student registration with Cooperative Education & Internships Department.

Students interested in finding an internship must register but do not have to travel to Denton.

Undergraduate students must have a 2.5 GPA and must have completed 12 credit hours at UNT to be eligible to register.

Graduate students must have a 3.0 GPA and must have completed 9 hours at UNT to be eligible to register.

Students should be available to work more than one semester prior to graduation.

Interested students should follow the following procedures:

  • Information sheet
    • Complete a CO-OP Information Sheet online. This establishes a file so the Denton Campus will have record of your request.
  • Resume
    • Prepare a typed, one-page resume and upload to your online account.
  • Transcripts
    • Print your unofficial transcriptions by logging in to MyUNT.
  • Initial interview
    • After you have completed the above steps, call 972-780-3632 to schedule an interview with your coordinator who will evaluate your resume and discuss your career goals. Together, the two of you will work out an individual plan of action.
    • Access to specific internship/co-op positions will be made available to you at this time.
    • Please bring a copy of your unofficial transcripts to your initial interview.
  • Academic Credit
    • Enrollment procedures vary, but all require registration in a course through the regular University registration process.
    • Your co-op coordinator can give you details that apply to your major at the time of your interview.
  • Transfer students
    • If you do not currently have the required semester hours at UNT but otherwise meet our requirements, you may instead provide a letter of recommendation and a copy of your transcripts from your previous college or university.  These need to be submitted prior to scheduling an initial interview with your coordinator.
  • International students
    • International Students must obtain written verification of permission to work off-campus from the International Programs Office before enrollment in this program can be initiated.
    • Please contact the International Programs Office and bring or mail the required written verification to the Cooperative Education Office.
