UNTHSC hosts conference on teaching science
As part of the Southwest Regional National Science Foundation Conference, the Health Science Center will host a live videoconference similar to those that are conducted periodically in biology classrooms in FWISD. These conferences bring FWISD students into a laboratory to observe an actual experiment in progress. The videoconference demonstration from a research laboratory at the Health Science Center is scheduled for Saturday, November 14, at 2:45 p.m.
UNTHSC hosts Reynolds Annual Geriatric Update
Alzheimer's disease affects more than 5 million Americans. With the aging of the U.S. population, that number is expected to triple by 2050. On Saturday, Nov. 14, the UNT Health Science Center's Reynolds Geriatric Education and Training in Texas (GET-IT) program will host "Alzheimer's Disease: Implications for an Aging Society," to discuss new approaches to diagnose and treat the disease.
PDI and DNA Lab on Fox news tonight
FOX 4 News interviewed George Adams, program project coordinator UNTHSC's Center for Human Identification, today about efforts to collect DNA samples from Dallas-area prostitutes. The DNA samples could help identify the prostitutes in the event that they are reported missing, comatose or murdered. The story is scheduled to appear on FOX 4 News' 5, 5:30 and 6 p.m. newscasts today. Channel 33 also interviewed Adams on the story.
Dr. Scott Ransom in FW Business Press
When Dr. Henry Plummer developed the concept of the "unit record" nearly 100 years ago, his idea was to place all of a patient's records in a single file that traveled with the patient and could be stored in a central repository. His concept of medical care continuity quickly became the standard for medical record keeping around the world.
