WORLD AFFAIRS COUNCIL HONORS RESEARCHER

FORT WORTH, Texas – Robert Gracy, Ph.D., of the University of North Texas Health Science Center, received the International Achievement Award for Science and Medicine from the World Affairs Council of Greater Fort Worth at its annual awards banquet Sept. 28 at the Radisson Plaza Hotel in Fort Worth.

In his position as associate vice president of research and biotechnology at the health science center, Dr. Gracy oversees all areas of research and technology transfer.

He has trained scientists and physicians from more than a dozen countries on four continents. He maintains active research and educational collaborations with academic and industrial centers in Europe and Asia. His research focuses on components of aging such as Alzheimer’s Disease, vision impairment and wound healing.

Dr. Gracy is the recipient of the Research Career Development and MERIT awards from the National Institutes of Health. His research has garnered awards from the American Chemical Society and the American Osteopathic Association. He has published approximately 200 research papers and book chapters and holds two patents in biotechnology.

Dr. Gracy serves as a consultant and sits on the board of several pharmaceutical, health care and biotechnology associations. He assisted the city of Fort Worth in the development of the Medical Industry Complex. Dr. Gracy is on the board of the Texas Healthcare and Informational Council, the Fort Worth Med Tech Business Incubator and the Health Industry Council of Dallas and Fort Worth.
