LICHTMAN NAMED CHAIRMAN OF THE DEPARTMENT OF ORTHOPEDICS
David Lichtman, MD, has been named chairman of the Department of Orthopedics at the University of North Texas Health Science Center.
“Dr. Lichtman will be a great addition to the University’s faculty,” said Marc B. Hahn, DO, dean of the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine at the health science center. “His diverse expertise in orthopedics will enhance the academic and research potential within the medical school.”
A retired rear admiral in the United States Navy, Dr. Lichtman served as chairman of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at John Peter Smith Hospital before joining the health science center. He is currently the chairman of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery, Orthopedic Residency Program for JPS Health Network; a member of the Texas Medical Association; and an ex-officio member of the Board of Directors for the Tarrant County Medical Society.
Dr. Lichtman also serves as a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons and the American Medical Association. He was recently named to the Best Doctors in America database.
Dr. Lichtman earned a medical degree from State University of New York Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.; served a residency in orthopedics at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Oakland, Calif.; and received certification as a naval flight surgeon from the Naval School of Aerospace Medicine in Pensacola, Fla.
He currently resides in Fort Worth with his wife, Frances.
