Financial aid

Financial aid is limited and demand is usually greater than available funds. To receive first consideration, you must apply for financial aid as early as possible before the academic year for which you are requesting assistance. Priority is given to the students who have the greatest need and who have submitted all required documentation by the specified dates.

Completing your financial aid file is usually a two-to-three month process. The awarding process does not begin when you make application for admission, but only after you have been accepted to UNT.

Approximately four weeks after you have submitted your FAFSA, you will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) and our office will receive your FAFSA data electronically. Additional forms may be necessary to complete your financial aid file. Student Financial Aid and Scholarships will notify you by mail of additional documentation that may be required. It is important that you respond to all requests for additional information in a timely manner. Your file must be complete and you must be admitted to UNT before processing of aid will continue.

All requested, completed documents should reach our office before the priority dates. Processing of applications will continue after the priority dates; however, processing and awarding of financial aid will cease two weeks prior to the end of the award period. Your file must be complete with our office before that time to be considered for aid.
