UNT College of Engineering to offer variety of summer camps for young women

DENTON (UNT), Texas -- Building on the success of its popular Robocamp engineering camps, the University of North Texas College of Engineering is offering a series of summer camps at both UNT's Research Park and the UNT Dallas campus geared for young women entering the 8th through 12th grades.

The camps are called "EChallenge Camps," and are conducted by members of the UNT College of Engineering Department of Computer Science and Engineering, with assistance from students from various departments in the college.

In addition to offering the Robocamp for the third summer in a row, an advanced Robocamp will be offered for the first time for returning students. Other new offerings include a CSExperience computer programming camp and an Eng-inuity! engineering design camp.

Robocamp and the CSExperience will be held June 13-15 (Wednesday-Friday) at UNT's Research Park, north of the UNT main campus at 3940 North Elm Street in Denton, and June 20-22 (Wednesday-Friday) at the UNT Dallas campus, 7300 Houston School Road (near the intersection of Camp Wisdom Rd.). Advanced Robocamp and Eng-inuity! will be held July 11-13 (Wednesday-Friday) at Research Park, and Eng-inuity! will be held July 18-20 (Wednesday-Friday) at UNT Dallas.

There is no charge for the three day camps and lunches are provided. The camp is funded by grants from the state of Texas Technology Workforce Development and the National Science Foundation. Participants are limited to 20 persons per camp, except the Advanced Robocamp which will be limited to 15 persons. Registration forms will be accepted until June 1 (Friday) by mail, fax or email. More details about the camps can be found by contacting David Keathly with UNT's Department of Computer Science and Engineering at (940) 565-2767, or at www.cse.unt.edu/echallenge2007.
