After lots of hard work, graduation is quickly approaching for many of you. Read the information below for important bits of wisdom that will make your graduation experience as smooth as possible.

Graduation Applications

It is the responsibility of the student to file the appropriate degree applications in the office of the Graduate School (Room 354, Eagle Student Services Center). You can visit the Graduate School to request a packet or request one online to be mailed to you. All application materials should be submitted to the Graduate School early in the semester. Your completed application packet will include:

Your graduation application will only be accepted for processing if your application is complete with appropriate fees paid, you have a current 3.00 overall GPA and a copy of an approved degree plan from your department is submitted with your application.

October 30, 2009

Applications for Fall 2009 that were not completed (ie: thesis/dissertation not submitted) will be reprocessed for Spring 2010. Applicants reprocessed for Spring 2010 have the option to “early” file their defended papers by the date indicated below to earn an exemption from thesis/dissertation enrollment for Spring 2010. International Students must verify enrollment requirements relating to immigration/Visa status with International Admissions! No NEW applicants for Spring 2010 graduation will be eligible for an “early” filing enrollment exemption.

December 11, 2009

Last day to “early” file, by 12 Noon, electronic and hard copies of the defended paper and abstract, and a signed Final Defense Form at the Graduate School for students graduating in May 2010 whose applications were reprocessed. After this date enrollment in 5950/6950 WILL be required during the Spring 2010 semester (minimum of 3 hours). There will be no extensions for early filing.

Graduation Fees

All graduation fees must be paid at the Student Accounting Office on the Eagle Student Services Center (ESSC) before submitting all graduation forms in person to the Graduate School. Alternatively, you may include a check (payable to UNT) if you mail your application forms to the Graduate Office. Please fill in the appropriate amounts on the Registrar’s Office Card (1/2 sheet) prior to paying fees. This office cannot accept unpaid or incomplete application materials. Submit a copy of the receipt showing all fees have been paid with your application.

 Master’s Degree: No fees
 Master’s Degree & Thesis:
$20 archiving, $55 microfilming
 Doctoral Degree & Dissertation: $20 archiving, $65 microfilming

A $25 late processing fee will apply to all applications received after the first deadline as listed above.

Students who wish to take advantage of additional ProQuest services (such as ProQuest's "Open Access" publishing option) will need to pay any additional fees directly to ProQuest.


Graduation Commencement, Regalia, Announcements & Diplomas

Information regarding Commencement will be sent from the Registrar’s Office three weeks prior to graduation. Doctoral Hooding information will be sent separately.

You should order your regalia and announcements early in the semester from the University Bookstore.

Diplomas are mailed approximately eight to ten weeks after graduation to the mailing address linked to your MyUNT account.
