Emerald Eagle Scholars Program
Since Fall 2007, this student success program has allowed talented undergraduate students from families with adjusted gross incomes below $40,000 to start on the path to earning a bachelor’s degrees without the cost of tuition and fees getting in the way.
In her 2007 inaugural address President Gretchen M. Bataille first announced the implementation of UNT's new Emerald Eagle Scholars program.
"An important measure to help ensure success in this special partnership between the Emerald Eagle Scholars and UNT is the requirement that participants must engage in the richness of university life — including campus activities, mentoring and other student support programs," Bataille says.
"In addition, because we believe a commitment to active engagement on campus is directly related to success, our Emerald Eagles will benefit by through service learning and through working on campus in university departments committed to supporting participants in the program."

Emerald Eagle Freshmen!! Missed Kick-Off?? No problem!!!
We will be hosting 4 make up sessions! Choose from the 4 following dates:
- Tuesday, September 1st: 9:00 am – 10:00 am
- Wednesday, September 2nd: 9:00 am – 10:00 am
- Thursday, September 3rd: 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm
- Friday, September 4th: 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Attention Incoming Emerald Eagles!!!
If you have received your Financial Aid Notification letter, and you were awarded an Emerald Eagle Award but have not received your Selection Notification Packet in the mail, you may access packet contents in pdf format below.
All selected students will be mailed individualized award letters with your name and id numbers. Please see Sample Award letter and additional packet contents, including the three forms that you must return signed to the Emerald Eagle Scholars Program Suite, in the ESSC, room 136.

If you are a talented student with high financial need, tuition and fees will not be an issue at the University of North Texas.
UNT’s Emerald Eagle Scholars program has been created for students who are academically talented, as shown by their admission acceptance into UNT, who have an average freshman class SAT score of 1105. Qualifying students will also have limited financial resources, making it difficult to fulfill their dreams of a university education.
Emerald Eagle Scholars is an active engagement student success program. You will be joining in a partnership with UNT and will have the average cost of tuition and fees for 15 semester credit hours paid by a combination of federal, state, and institutional funds. UNT has a strong track record of helping students find financial assistance to pursue college degrees.
The program will lead you to academic success and timely completion of your bachelor’s degree. You will receive extra support from the first day of classes through graduation, with a focus on success. We will help you leverage learning opportunities and your own strengths while avoiding typical pitfalls.
One of the most important aspects of the program is that it is more than just a financial assistance program. The program will lead Emerald Eagle Scholars to academic success and timely completion of their bachelor degrees. To do this, we have developed program requirements that have proven success records for students.
High expectations
The program has a number of requirements and expectations. We believe that our Emerald Eagle Scholars can rise to the expectation level, which will ultimately lead to a successful life. UNT is making a significant commitment of money, planning and faculty/staff time and energy to guide you to success.
We will work together in a partnership as a first class university and talented students. Together, we will achieve great success.
