Paying for grad school

Take control of your future.  Reach for more in your field of study, your profession and your life by earning a master’s or doctoral degree at UNT.  Cost does not have to be a barrier to opportunity.

1 Apply for admission to the Toulouse School of Graduate Studies and to your academic program.  Submit all application requirements by December 1 for maximum eligibility for UNT fellowships the following fall semester.

2 Ask your academic department about fellowships, assistantships and scholarships.  Early contact improves your chances to receive available funding.

3 File the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if you are interested in state and federal financial aid, including student loans.  Apply by April 15 to receive priority consideration for the fall semester.

4 Research local and national funding opportunities; requirements and deadlines vary.

UNT’s academic departments offer graduate students more than 1,000 fellowships and assistantships annually.  Half of our graduate students (51 percent) receive financial assistance.  Your plan to pay for graduate school may include a fellowship, assistantship, scholarships, grant funds, student loans, student employment or any combination of these options each year.
