UNT Health Science Center appoints new Epidemiology professor

The University of North Texas Health Science Center (UNTHSC) School of Public Health has appointed Mohammed ELFaramawi, MD, PhD, Msc, MPH, as assistant professor of Epidemiology.
Dr. ELFaramawi joins the school from the World Health Organization (WHO), Switzerland, where he most recently served as a biostatistician in the Chronic Disease and Health Promotion department.

UNTHSC School of Public Health appoints new assistant dean

The University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth (UNTHSC) School of Public Health has named Dr. Elizabeth (Liz) Treviño Dawson as new Assistant Dean for Curriculum. In this role, her work will focus on the school’s Master of Health Administration (MHA) and enhanced Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) degree programs.
UNTHSC professor honored for outstanding achievement in environmental health

Professor Terrance B. (Terry) Gratton, DrPH, received the 2009 Walter F. Snyder Award for outstanding achievement in advancing environmental health by NSF International (NSF International, The Public Health and Safety Company) and the National Environmental Health Association (NEHA).

The University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth (UNTHSC-FW) School of Public Health has promoted Dr. Christine A. Moranetz to Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Chair for the new Department of Public Health Education. She also serves as Associate Professor in both the Department of Public Health Education and the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences.

UNTHSC Student Honored at SAS Global Forum

Elisa Priest, University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth (UNTHSC) doctoral student in Epidemiology, was honored at the recent SAS Global Forum in Washington, D.C., as one of nine 2009 SAS Student Ambassadors and as winner of “Best Contributed Paper,” Statistics Section, by the organization, which provides business analytics software used in statistical analysis and data manipulations.
UNTHSC Professor Awarded Fulbright Grant

Sue Lurie, PhD, assistant professor of Social and Behavioral Sciences for the School of Public Health, University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth (UNTHSC), has been awarded a five-month Fulbright grant, beginning in September 2009, to teach at Semmelweis University in Budapest, Hungary. Dr. Lurie will also pursue future research opportunities while in Hungary.
