For priority consideration, apply at least two months before the semester begins.

General admission requirements

Trent Petrie, professor of psychology and director of the Center for Sport Psychology and Performance Excellence

  1. Earn a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  2. Earn a 2.8 grade point average or higher on all undergraduate work OR a 3.0 GPA on the last 60 hours of your undergraduate degree OR a 3.4 GPA on your master's degree.*
  3. Apply at www.applytexas.org; pay a $50 application fee ($60 beginning Fall 2010).
  4. Request official transcripts from all colleges or universities you have attended be sent to the UNT graduate school.
  5. Request official test score reports (GRE, GMAT, MAT, etc.) from the testing agency be sent to the UNT graduate school.**
  6. Send any additional program-specific application materials to your department. (Departments may require materials such as personal statements, letters of reference, auditions or portfolios. For details, visit www.gradschool.unt.edu/admissions.)

To be admitted for a second bachelor's degree,* teacher certification or Graduate Academic Certificate,** or as a non-degree graduate student, *** complete steps 1-4.

* Students with lower GPAs may be eligible for admission under certain conditions or if they are seeking a second bachelor's degree. See the Graduate Catalog at www.unt.edu/catalog for details.

** Some programs may provisionally admit students for one semester prior to submission of standardized test scores. Some programs have requirements that substitute for test scores. Some GACs require test scores. See the Graduate Catalog at www.unt.edu/catalog for details.

*** Apply as a non-degree student if you are only taking courses to improve your knowledge. Non-degree students may change to degree-seeking, although course credits might not transfer to your degree program. As a nondegree student, you may be ineligible for financial aid.
