Department of Journalism




 

The Frank W. and Sue Mayborn School of Journalism comprises two departments and a graduate program: The Department of News and the Department of Strategic Communications. The graduate program is the Frank W. Mayborn Graduate Institute of Journalism. The Department of News offers instruction in newspaper reporting and publishing, magazine publishing, broadcast and Web news and photojournalism. The Department of Strategic Communications offers instruction in public relations and advertising.  The Graduate Institute offers master’s degrees in journalism with emphases in News and Strategic Communications.

The late Frank W. Mayborn and his wife Sue Mayborn lend their name to the school. The family is one of Texas’ top publishing families as publisher of the Temple Daily Telegram and the Killeen Daily Herald.

Mitch Land, Ph.D., serves as interim dean.
