Special collections include Texas rare books and maps, government documents, juvenile literature and early English manuscripts. The music library is one of the largest academic music collections in the United States.

The Center for Advanced Research and Technology, with more than $16 million in state-of-the-art materials characterization and processing instrumentation, supports research activities with partners in engineering, materials science, physics, chemistry and biology.
