First registrar joins UNT Dallas Campus
Tina Lee Collins became the University of North Texas UNT Dallas’ first registrar June 1.
Collins came from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Ill., where she served as director of records and registration. She has taught at several schools including Austin Peay State University and John A. Logan College in Carterville, Ill., and has worked in higher education for 13 years. Collins is pursuing a doctorate in higher education administration from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn.

“I am honored to have been selected as the first registrar of the University of North Texas at Dallas, and I look forward to serving students and working with the excellent faculty and staff,” Collins said.
The recent additions of a registrar, executive director of admissions and enrollment and a director of campus transition and accreditation enables the school to prepare for and execute its transition from a branch campus of UNT Denton to the first public university in the City of Dallas.
Gov. Rick Perry signed legislation May 27, which allows UNT Dallas to expand into a full-fledged university. Senate Bill (SB) 629 also allows the school to issue $25 million in tuition revenue bonds to fund a second building on the school’s 264-acre campus.
The UNT Dallas is in the process of interviewing candidates to fill another executive leadership position—the director of finance and administration—and will need to hire approximately 60 new staff and 40 new faculty to open as the UNT Dallas in 2010.
