DALLAS – Fifty-two graduating seniors were honored at the University of North Texas at Dallas Aug. 6. Because many UNTD students do not attend commencement ceremonies in Denton, the “graduate reception” is the closest thing they experience to a graduation ceremony.
Dallas Campus Vice Chancellor and President Designate John Ellis Price will place a Dallas Campus stole over the graduates’ robes in a ceremony much like the hooding of doctoral graduates. The graduating class includes 209 students—91 undergraduates and 118 graduates—many who are the first in their families to get a college degree.
The UNT at Dallas is now an independent university, but until it becomes an independently accredited institution in 2011, its students graduate as part of the University of North Texas in Denton. Undergraduate commencement ceremonies at the University of North Texas in Denton take place Aug. 15.
