Schwarzenegger gets OK to furlough state workers
A judge rules that the governor's two-day-a-month furlough plan passes legal muster. Meanwhile, numbers crunchers in Washington say California is slated to receive enough money from a federal stimulus package to slice the state deficit almost in half.

California's snowpack levels are well below normal for this time of year. And after two dry winters, unless significant rain and snow falls in the next two months, summer water rationing in Silicon Valley and across the state appears likely.  
 
 
Tesla Motor's plans to build a 500-worker auto assembly plant in San Jose appear to be dead. But a company spokeswoman said Tesla still may relocate its corporate headquarters and research facilities to San Jose from San Carlos.

Prosecutors charged the 41-year-old San Jose financier with securities fraud in December, but it's unclear to which charges he will plead guilty. Sentencing will follow later.

    When the Senate takes up the bill, it should remove any remaining pork and focus on whether the bill puts enough money into infrastructure, alternative energy and aid to states to spur economic growth and create new jobs as quickly as possible.
