It's official! The host for the 9th IBRO World Congress in 2015 will be Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. To celebrate Latin American neuroscience, we will be running a series of articles on the opportunities and challenges in the region. Brazilian Ph.D. student named 2011 IBRO-FRSQ-INMHA Albert J Aguayo Fellow
José Peixoto Santos, a Ph.D. student from the Universidade de São Paulo in Ribeirão Preto, Brazil, has been named the 2011 IBRO-FRSQ-INMHA Albert J Aguayo Fellow. His field of study centers on the pathology and MRI alterations in temporal lobe epilepsy.

IBRO's VLTP travels to Ethiopia and Chile

In the final months of 2010, IBRO's Visiting Lecture Team Programme (VLTP) held experiment-based lecture courses in Ethiopia and Chile, covering a variety of topics of current interest in basic neuroscience and exposing potential research scientists to neuroscience opportunities, both locally and abroad.

Edward G. Jones, 1939 - 2011
 
Edward G. “Ted” Jones, an internationally respected neuroscientist, authority on the anatomy of the brain and central nervous system and the foundations of psychiatric disorders, and former director of the UC Davis Center for Neuroscience, died suddenly on June 6. He was 72. Ted was former Chair of the US/Canada Regional Committee.
