U.S. Secretary of Education Announces National Competition to Invest in Innovation

NTIA Announces First State Broadband Mapping Grants

Recovery Act Funding to Provide Policymakers and Consumers with Improved Data on Internet Service in California, Indiana, North Carolina, and Vermont

WASHINGTON – The Department of Commerce's National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) today announced that it has awarded the first four grants under NTIA’s State Broadband Data and Development Grant Program to fund activities in California, Indiana, North Carolina, and Vermont. The program, funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, will increase broadband access and adoption through better data collection and broadband planning. The data will be displayed in NTIA’s national broadband map, a tool that will inform policymakers' efforts and provide consumers with improved information on the broadband Internet services available to them.

GSA Fulfills Administration's Recovery Act-Funded Greening of Federal Fleet

Government's Advanced-Tech, Fuel-Efficient Buses Save Taxpayer Money

WASHINGTON — With the purchase of five compressed natural gas buses and 35 hybrid buses, the U.S. General Services Administration has successfully completed one of the Administration’s key initiatives to green the federal fleet through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

“We’re proud to have completed this program under such an aggressive schedule,” said GSA Acting Administrator Paul F. Prouty. “By investing in more fuel-efficient federal vehicles, we’re contributing to the nation’s economic recovery while realizing significant long-term savings for both the taxpayer and the environment.”
