What is 3-1-1?
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) established the 3-1-1 number in the early 1990s for cities to use to alleviate non-emergency calls
to local 9-1-1 centers. The 3-1-1 Citizens Call Center provides citizens with direct access to Non-Emergency City Services. Call takers are
available 8 to 5 pm daily to answer citizen calls and direct the caller to the desired City Department All Emergency calls still need to go to 9-1-1.
What services does Lubbock 3-1-1 provide?
Lubbock 3-1-1 allows for a variety of Service Requests to be input for the City of Lubbock which are sent electronically to the appropriate
department. Call Takers have access to an ever-growing knowledge base and can answer questions regarding other City services and programs.
While we do our best for one-call resolution, sometimes transfers are necessary.
Who can call 3-1-1?
Anyone within the Lubbock city limits from a hard-line phone or a wireless phone. Nextel, T-Mobile and Sprint cell phone providers currently
do not have 3-1-1 access but plan to have soon. There is no charge to call except from a pay phone and applicable cellular airtime charges.
Persons outside the area can continue to call 775-3000.
