Report a Junked Vehicle
InformationJunked vehicles are vehicles that:
- have an expired or removed inspection sticker or registration,
- are wrecked, dismantled, inoperative, or abandoned
- have not moved for more than 30 days.
See Figure 1 for exampleVehicles that are cited as Junked Vehicles are a health and safety concern in our neighborhoods. They are often untended and can provide habitat for vermin or insects and other nuisance animals, they can be a safety concern as well for children playing in or around them, and they can leak fluids that may be toxic to the environment.
Owners of Junked Vehicles will be issued a citation and a 10-day notice of violation to bring the vehicle into compliance. Cases involving the vehicle are presented at a public hearing, where tow orders are issued to abate the nuisance at the property and demolish the vehicle. Property owners may also choose to have the vehicle towed AT NO CHARGE at the time of inspection should they have no interest in the vehicle.
