What is sustainability?

Sustainability is meeting the needs of today without compromising the ability of future generations to meet tomorrow's needs. Sustainable North Texas is based on two definitions for regional sustainability:

  • The demands placed upon the community's resources today can be met without reducing the community's ability to provide for its future.
  • Future generations can have the same quality of life we are giving ourselves through our use of resources today.
