Job Description:

Performs complex (senior-level) technical accounting work in the Administration Division.  Work involves performing detailed assignments in recording, classifying, examining and analyzing financial records, documents or reports.  Works under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.  Classifies, codes, and balances financial accounting documents.  Prepares payment, cash, general journal and related vouchers.  May be responsible for reconciling accounts, researching discrepancies, and reporting findings.  Will be responsible for data entry of accounting entries into the Uniform Statewide Accounting System (USAS) and MIP internal accounting system.  Work involves correctly processing all transactions with minimal amount of errors.  May specialize in one or more phases of work such as auditing accounting documents and reports.  Other duties will include maintaining files, tracking invoices and performing work assignments in other areas as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:

Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent.  Twenty-four months experience in general office work with emphasis on bookkeeping and accounting operations.  Experience and education may be substituted for one another.  Requires knowledge of the laws and regulations of the State of Texas and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).  Experience with the Uniform Statewide Accounting System (USAS) is a plus.  Must have experience with spreadsheet software.  Must know 10-key by touch, and have the ability to work accurately with numerical data.
