The 33rd annual Salmon Lake Park Bluegrass Festival begins at 7 p.m. on Thursday and ends at 5 p.m. Sunday. Twelve bands perform on an outdoor stage under beautiful shade trees during a 45-minute set. Bluegrass bands consists of banjo, fiddle, guitar, mandolin, and dobro. Bring your lawn chair and enjoy 25 hours of good bluegrass music. Salmon Lake Park Bluegrass Festival is an outdoor event featuring Saltgrass, Marksmen, Tennessee Gentlemen, Louisiana Grass, Bill Grant, Midnight Flight, Gary Waldrep, Faris Family, Martin Family, Hickory Hill, Digger Davis, Tradition and others. Head to the TRUE heart of Texas this Labor Day weekend and get your fill of barbequed cabrito! Beautiful Richards Park in Brady, Texas is home to the 36th Annual World Championship Barbeque Goat Cook-Off which gets underway Friday, September 4th at 5:30pm with a washer pitching tournament followed by the Welcome Party and Dance. After the Goat Gallop 5K Fun Run, gates open at the park Saturday morning at 9am. Features of the day include an arts and crafts fair, a washer and horseshoe pitching tournament, the Colgate Country Music Showdown, and a BBQ goat meal. After the sun has set and the pits are cooled, get ready for some serious boot-scootin'! Live entertainment Saturday night includes a Songwriter Circle hosted by Kent Finlay and special guests, followed by performances by Brian Milson and the Short Road Band, Seth James and Wade Bowen (BYOB). Blues festival featuring live blues music, a triathlon, a motorcycle rally, biker games, parade, family-team cookoff, kids' area, Sunday service by CMA and more! Friday night we'll start off with a parade. Hopefully we’ll have some Art Cars in to help us start the party. We’ll keep you posted on acts as we book them, and we are talking to some great people. If the roar of a motorcycle is more your thing, we'll have a rally leaving Goe's in Angleton on Saturday (time to be announced). Once in Downtown Freeport, we'll have biker games and live music to kick things into gear. If you are too cool for school, you may want to join the fun at the Blues Brothers Look-Alike Contest. Where are you Jake and Elwood? This is a way-cool family event. The kids will have fun on the planned waterslide, the rock-climbing wall and the moonwalk. We had a great turnout of kids last year and we want to make sure folks feel good about bringing their children along -- so mind your manners while you’re having fun. By the way, you are welcome to bring a lawn chair, but no coolers, no vehicles with more than 2 wheels, and no weapons will be allowed in the area. Give our vendors -- which will include many terrific local restaurants -- a chance to serve you great Gulf Coast cuisine.

Music lovers with an appetite for tasty blues and mouth-watering barbecue will find the 2009 City of Bedford Labor Day Blues & BBQ Festival a feast for the senses. The two-day event returns Sept. 5-6 with blues legends Buddy Guy and The Fabulous Thunderbirds and a $10,000 barbecue cook-off. The line-up includes: The Chris Watson Band, The Joe Jonas Band, The Tejas Brothers, Omar and Howlers, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, The Holland K. Smith Band, Dave Millsap, Buddy Whittington, Chris Duarte and Buddy Guy. The stage isn't the only place that's smoking during the two-day festival. Pit masters can compete for $10,000 in prize money in Bedford's first cook-off sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbecue Society. Entry forms and complete details can be found on the event web site: www.bedfordbluesbbq.com. The outdoor event is 2 to 11 p.m. each day at 1613 Hospital Parkway in Bedford, at the intersection of Highway 121 and Airport Freeway. Daily general admission lawn seating is $5.00. Limited reserved seats that include general admission are available for $10 and may be purchased online beginning April 13. Lawn chairs and blankets are permitted. Coolers, pets, tape recorders, and flash and video cameras are not allowed. On-site parking is $10.00. Free parking at nearby Pennington Field football stadium is a short walk from the festival site.

The National Cowboy Symposium & Celebration hosts 150-200 performers and participants (poets, musicians, storytellers, panelists, cooks and special presenter) for the 20th Annual event on September 10-13, 2009 at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center. Its' purpose remains to celebrate, preserve and pass along our western heritage and cowboy culture for those who know and love it, and for those who have never known it before to learn from and enjoy it as well. To carry out these goals, the event schedule includes musical entertainers, poetry and storytelling, western writers/authors panels, film and movie seminars, horse handling demonstrations, a parade, a full blown Native American Indian Pow Wow, chuck wagon cook-off, and exhibits of western artworks and merchandise. Our event features more than 80 cowboy and cowgirl poets, 70 or more musical acts, 30 or more storytellers, more than 200 exhibit spaces filled with the best in western art and goods, more than 30 chuck wagons and other special presenters. This event also includes the American Cowboy Cultural Awards Show and the National Championship Chuck Wagon Cook-Off.

Waterfest at Willow Grove is all about water sports, free kid's activities, live music, exciting exhibitors and great food & drinks! The national boat and jet ski racing competition, SuperCourse Nationals, will take place all weekend. Jazz By The Boulevard is a music and arts festival set in the beautiful park-like setting of the Will Rogers Memorial Center and great Kimbell lawn in Fort Worth's cultural district. A Friday night concert kicks off our Texas Music Weekend component of Rally 'Round Greenville. The Medina Lake Cajun Festival features top notch Cajun Bands from Louisiana. For your enjoyment, the festival features two separate stage areas, the Fais-Do-Do & The Gazebo Stage. Entertainment on the Fais-Do-Do Stage starts with the Band-Aids Jazz Band. This group opens the festival with a spirited New Orleans Dixieland flavor. Big-name Louisiana Cajun bands on this stage also include T Broussard & the Zydeco Steppens and Bruce Daigrepont. Entertainment on the Gazebo Stages will include Rodney Thibodeaux & Tout les Soir and Cepryl Ballou. The"Great Gumbo Cookoff" pits amateur and professional chefs in a gumbo contest and visitors can sample the gumbo. Authentically prepared Cajun food items include crawfish pies, catfish, jambalaya, crawfish etoufee, red beans & rice, Cajun popcorn shrimp, bread pudding with whiskey sauce, and pecan pralines. Activities also include games and arts and crafts exhibitions. We offer free parking and free shuttle service to the grounds. The festival runs from 11:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the Lakehills Civic Center in Bandera County.

Traders Village - Houston hosts the Village Gospel Jubilee. Traders Village is the largest, most visited flea marketplace and festival complex on the Texas Gulf Coast with more than 800 dealers every weekend. The market is minutes northwest of downtown Houston on North Eldridge just off of Highway 290. The event will feature more than a dozen gospel singers from throughout the Houston area. Sponsored by the Bay Area Gospel Music Association.

The Victoria County Czech Heritage Festival features live entertainment throughout the day with three dance bands. Performers include the Hobo Band, Red Ravens Orchestra and Czechaholics. Event hours are 10 a.m.-7:30 p.m. There will be booths, displays, children's games, a 24th-annual Tarok Tournament, Czech-style food, homemade chicken noodle soup, kolaches, county store, museum items on display, an auction, and a silent auction. This year's festival will include the 4th-annual homemade beer and wine show, as well as an appearance by the State Czech Slovak Queen.

The Tejano Academy Awards is a peer-recognition type of Award Show. It is put on by the Academy of Tejano Artists & Musicians, a non profit organization based out of San Antonio, TX. This is the only musician-led organization in Tejano music for the State of Texas! All musicians invited to participate. Must perform"live" music. No lip-sync or tracks permitted.

The Red River Valley Fair includes a carnival, livestock show, live entertainment, a chili cookoff, children's barnyard, community contests such as antique tractor exhibit, food, clowns, and family entertainment. A different group performs each evening on the outdoor stage which includes Gene Watson and The Plain Label Band. There is also a showcase of agriculture, a home & garden showcase, commercial exhibits, and community exhibits. Aq-Venture, Pre-School Day, and Senior Citizens Day.

The Titus County Fair is a four-day event that features academic, agricultural, and sports events for all ages. A wide range of entertainment attractions are scheduled throughout the fair. The Chicken Stew Challenge and creative arts contest attract adult participants. Different horsemanship events are scheduled nightly along with the traditional junior livestock shows. Nightly entertainment features country, gospel and Hispanic music. Past performers include Chisholm Canyon, Popular Demand, The Blandells, Robin Lee, Lariat, Brian Black, Charly McClain, and The Calhoun Family.
