Critical Stage Drought

This notification is required pursuant to the City’s User Drought Contingency Plan (UDCP) At its regular meeting on December 11, 2008, the Barton Springs/Edwards Aquifer Conservation District’s (BSEACD) Board of Directors voted unanimously to declare a Critical Stage Drought effective immediately and will remain in effect until further notice. Under a Critical Stage Drought, the City of Buda is required to implement the mandatory conservation measures of the City’s User Drought Contingency Plan (UDCP) and reduce its monthly groundwater use by 30%, until the Critical Stage is no longer declared.

The City of Buda has implemented successful and effective water management strategies that have focused on diversification of the City’s water supply. The City of Buda now receives water from two sources; groundwater from the BSEACD, and surface water from the Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority (GBRA). Because of the City’s diversification of water supply, the City of Buda was successful in amending its UDCP to allow for some restriction relief. However, Buda City Leaders recognize the need to use water wisely, and continue conservation measures which will ensure that we are good stewards of an increasingly scarce resource. Therefore, in order to achieve the mandatory 30% reduction in groundwater usage, the City of Buda is activating Stage 3 (Critical Stage Drought)of its UDCP effective immediately. Below is a list of REQUIRED ACTIONS that ALL City of Buda water customers must follow:
