Interchange Retrieval FAQ
What information can be found with Interchange?
- Interchange will allow you to locate information that is
officially filed with the PUC in Central Records, including
Projects, Dockets and Tariff applications. Please note that the actual tariffs
are not available in Interchange. Hard copies may be obtained from the Central Records Division
by calling 512-936-7180.
What additional tools do I need to retrieve filings over the Internet?
- Web browser we support
- The PUC supports the most current versions of MS Explorer and Firefox.
- Viewer needed to look at multipage TIF files - pick your operating system.

DocView
DocView is a software program developed by the National Library of Medicine
that runs under Windows 3.1, Windows for Workgroups, Windows 95 and Windows
NT. Once on their site select the link "Projects" and then the link "DocView
program".
- Eastman Kodak Imaging
Windows 98, NT 4.0, 2000, XP Users - can obtain the software directly from their
operating system CDs.

Jade
For Macintosh only. Jade requires 68020 (or higher) or PowerPC, Thread Manager
or system 7.5 (or later) and is Freeware. (Requires Stuffit Deluxe in order to expand all files)
- Viewer needed to look at PDF files.

Adobe Acrobat PDF Viewer
With free Adobe® Acrobat® Reader® software, you can view and print Adobe PDF files across a broad range of hardware and operating systems. It is recommended that you use version 5.0.
- Some files may need to be unzipped requiring a program such as PKZip or WinZip to access the files. These files carry the .zip extension.
How do I locate a filing?
- Use the Interchange Filings Retrieval system. You can get to this
location by clicking the login button
on the
Interchange login page.

- If you do not know the control number you can reference either our New Filings or
Search Filings (by date) pages to assist you.
Please note that the control number will be the same number as either the Project, Docket or Tariff filing.
How can I purchase a document?
- There is no longer a fee for downloading documents online
Why are some item numbers underlined and others not?
- The underlined numbers denote that the filing has a TIF
and/or an additional "electronic" file.
What is a TIF file?
- A TIF file is literally a picture of the paper copy.
Generally, TIF files from our agency will not contain
more than 50 pages per file. For example, if a filing
contains 210 pages, there will be five TIF files; four
containing 50 pages and one with 10 pages.

- A PDF file or Adobe® Portable Document Format, is an open standard for electronic document distribution.
It is a universal file format that preserves all the fonts, formatting, graphics, and color of any source document, regardless of the application and platform used to create it.
