Early Voting Information


Next Election Date: May 9, 2009

If you are registered to vote in the City of Lubbock, you can vote early at your convenience. Early voting for the May uniform election date begins 12 days before a City election and ends on the 4th day before the election. For a November election, early voting begins the 17th day before the election and ends on the 4th day before. This is called early voting, and there are two types of early voting in Texas. Vote early in person (you don’t need to vote in your precinct, you can cast your ballot at any early voting site convenient to YOU) or vote early by mail (this is done by requesting an application for a ballot to be mailed to you). Voting early in person is convenient and, unlike early voting by mail, you don’t need an excuse. To see if you qualify to vote by mail, see the information below.

Request for Application for Ballot by Mail

To be eligible to vote early by mail in Texas, you must: To obtain an application to vote by mail, please call our office at 806/775-2061. Be prepared to give us the following information:
  1. Name
  2. Complete Address (i.e. City, State, Zip Code)
  3. Voter Certificate Number and/or Date of Birth
  4. Reason for eligibility to vote by mail

An application for ballot by mail will be mailed to you not later than the next working day after the request is made.
You must mail the application to the early voting clerk of the authority conducting the election.

The early voting clerk is the city secretary for the City of Lubbock.
