The Reserve force is the largest component of FEMA’s Disaster Workforce. Reservists are personnel authorized by the Stafford Act (Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relieve and Emergency Assistance Act, PL 93-288). Currently there are more than 8,000 Reservists geographically dispersed throughout the country.
To improve the Agency’s ability to fulfill its mission, the Disaster Reserve Workforce Division (DRWD) launched an Agency-wide effort in June 2008, to ensure that FEMA’s Disaster Workforce has a documented plan for credentialing its members.
