The Iowa Board of Barbering evaluates the qualifications of applicants for licensure and grants licenses to those who qualify.

ONLINE RENEWAL IS FAST, SAFE, AND EASY!

The Board establishes rules and regulations to ensure the integrity and competence of licensed barbers and investigates complaints for unprofessional conduct.

The Board is the link between the consumer and the licensed Barber and, as such, promotes the public health, welfare and safety.

Licensees are responsible for meeting all licensure requirements and should review the rules carefully and frequently. Select Laws and Rules from the drop down box above and scroll through the Rules for detailed information about Licensure Definitions, Licensure Renewal, Reactivation and other important content specific to this profession.

NEW! Online license verification!

You may now verify and print the licensure status of professionals and establishments by following five easy steps.

  • Select "License Search".
  • Insert the licensee's name or license number.
