Q 8: If my load for landfill disposal is only 100 pounds, will it cost me $28.50?
A 8: No. The computer pro rates the fee and charges are assessed for the load accordingly. i.e. The charge on a 100 pound load would be $1.43 and the charge on a load weighing 2,600 pounds would be $37.05.

Q 9: Why do I have to leave a deposit before landfill disposal of my load when a charge applies?
A 9: There is a $50 mandatory deposit required of all loads when a charge applies. A load cannot be disposed of until this deposit is satisfied. Landfill policy requires the Customer Service Representatives obtain the deposit at the time the load is weighed in on the scale. The deposit will later be applied to the disposal charge.

Q 10: Can I use my current itemized utility bill that shows the current garbage charge, name and account number to avoid a disposal fee charge?
A 10: Yes, but you must present your drivers' license along with your utility bill to verify your current address as being the same as it appears on your bill. This can be used only on your current address and cannot be exempt if it is your rental property. The bill must be current and itemized with the garbage charge on it. Household items such as furniture, brush, and appliances (excluding refrigerators and freezers) can be disposed of using the utility customer exempt policy. Commercial accounts are excluded from the utility exempt policy. All loads must be covered and/or secured to prevent the blowing of materials from the vehicle. City of Lubbock residents that meet the criteria of the policy are limited to 12 free loads per year and must be hauling from their homes in automobiles, pickups, or single/dual axle trailers only. All other vehicles will be charged for use of the landfill. Non-residents and/or City of Lubbock persons will be assessed the current disposal fees. Items that pertain to construction or demolition such as lumber, sheetrock, shingles and all other building materials are excluded and charges will apply.
