Development Review Committee (DRC)

What is the Development Review Committee (DRC)?

The purpose of the DRC process is to protect the health and safety of Tomball citizens by providing code compliant reviews of construction plans as well as review of commercial, residential, and business properties for compliance with building codes, state laws, and city ordinances. Prior to undertaking a project, property owners and developers are encouraged to schedule a DRC meeting to obtain pertinent information relating to their proposal, as the processes will require further review before formal approval.

The DRC consists of representatives from the following departments:

  • Engineering & Planning
  • Building
  • Public Works
  • Fire Marshal’s Office
  • City Manager’s Office

The DRC will be ready to assist you with:

  • Processing of subdivisions, residential and commercial projects
  • Platting questions/requirements
  • Zoning questions
  • Utility availability
  • Right-of-way & Dedication requirements
  • Drainage questions/requirements
  • Building code and compliance
  • Fire code and compliance

If you would like to schedule a DRC meeting, the following is required:

  • A site plan / conceptual site plan and survey must be available for review.
  • If available, please bring architectural plans, plat, and utility plan.
  • The property owner or owner’s representative must be present. Developers, engineers, surveyors, architects, and other representatives of the project are strongly encouraged to attend.

When and where does the DRC meet?

DRC meetings are held every Wednesday from 1:00 – 4:00 pm at the Public Works Building, located at 501 James Street.
