The Parks and Recreation Department enhances the physical and mental well-being of the community by providing adequate open space, and recreational and athletic facilities.

Our responsiblities include providing maintenance for the right-of-ways throughout the City, as well as117 acres of recreational facilities.

The Department also provides scheduling and rental services for fields and parks and support for special events sponsored by local organizations.

Be a part of history and purchase a brick for the path around the log cabin at Heritage Park.  The bricks may be personalized with up to 3 lines with 12 characters per line.  The cost is $37.50 for each brick. 

Complete the Brick Order Form and return it to Suzy in the Parks Department with payment.

A Thor Guard Lightning Warning System is installed at Hawkins Spring Park, Midlothian Sports Complex, and Jaycee Park.  The system monitors the atmosphere's electrostatic energy as far away as 15 miles and evaluates the potential for lightning within a 2 mile radius.  If an alert sounds all outdoor activities must cease.  Information signs are posted at the concession stands near the entrance to the restrooms.
