ISO RATING
The Insurance Service Office is an
independent private company that rates a
community's ability to provide fire
suppression activities. Departments are rated on a scale
of 1 to 10, with 1 being the best and 10
being the poorest. These evaluations are
most thorough covering all aspects of a
department's competence in rendering fire
protection. These Public Protection Classifications are
used by most insurance companies to set
rates for their policy holders. The lower
the Class number the lower the insurance premium,
thus it pays a community to invest in it's
fire protection. Check with your insurance
company and insure that they are crediting
you with a Class 1 or 2 rate. Click on
