FAQ

I would like to schedule a meeting to meet with the City Planner and/or the City Engineer, who do I need to speak to in order to schedule a meeting?

I have a Tomball mailing address, how can I find out if my property is within the City Limits?

You may have a Tomball mailing address but not actually reside in the corporate city limits of the City of Tomball. If you would like to view the city limits or E.T.J (extraterritorial jurisdiction) on a map, please visit the Map Library. Also, you may request a map of the City boundaries through an Open Records Request.

My property is not within the City limits but it is directly adjacent, can I request annexation?

Yes. Please contact the City Secretary at (281) 290-1000

You can view and print a copy of the zoning map and zoning ordinance from the zoning website. You can also purchase a copy of the zoning ordinance or map from our office, located at 501 James Street. Please refer to the Fee Schedule

How long will it take for my construction documents and plans to be reviewed?

The goal for the department is 2-3 weeks. Once you submit your plans or permit application, the maps, construction documents and plans included are reviewed by technical experts to ensure compliance with development codes and regulations. As each reviewer completes the review, he or she will either "sign-off" on the approval or return marked-up plans with comments to the customer for revisions. When the necessary approvals are obtained, you will receive your approved plans / permit application to begin work.

How do I get a survey of my property?

The City does not provide surveys for private property. You will need to contact a surveyor to have one prepared.

Does the City of Tomball have a copy of a plat for my property?

The City of Tomball has a database of all plats that are within the corporate city limits filed through Harris County. If you would like to request a copy, please fill out an Open Records Request form. This form can be found under the Quick Links section, on the right side of the webpage.
