City Manager's Message

On behalf of the City of Killeen, I welcome you to our web site. We want the web site to be a helpful and useful tool for acquiring information about your city. We also want the site to be interactive - a place that does more than simply post information. In this vein, please use it and let us know how we can improve. Please know that the City Council and City staff will always be here to address your specific needs and concerns in person or by phone. We do not consider the web to be a substitute for anything we do, it is merely another tool for both of us.

The City of Killeen has a commitment to citywide beautification, parks and recreation activities, public safety, customer service and future growth. As your local government, we remain committed to exploring creative and financially responsible ways to enhance and improve city services at minimal cost to citizens. We exist for the people, and it is this approach that ensures residents remain residents of Killeen.

For those who are seeking a great place to live, we encourage you to consider Killeen as a place to relocate. As we embark on a journey into the 21st Century, we feel as though Killeen is a dynamic, trend-setting city that will provide residents with many of the amenities that are sought in larger metropolitan areas without the hustle and bustle that often comes attached.

Being the neighbor of Fort Hood – the largest military installation in the free world, it is only appropriate that Killeen is the place of retirement for many of our country’s soldiers. We are proud that Killeen provides the ideal retirement setting for many. This includes low cost of living, a robust economy and a labor market that supports employment needs upon retirement.

Visitors to our city can enjoy a variety of things. Whether it is shopping along the rapidly developing U.S. 190 corridor, testing your taste buds in one of our many restaurants, or viewing the latest movie release in Killeen’s 14 screen theater, visitors can easily access shopping, eating and entertainment in our city.

As you browse our web site, I hope you find what you are looking for. If not, please let us know. I also hope you discover something the City of Killeen offers its residents, neighbors and visitors that you never knew about.
