Special Events Unit

The Special Events Unit organizes officers to work the many special events throughout the downtown area. Pictured above, motorcyclists from all over the country converge on 6th Street for the "Republic of Texas Motorcycle Rally (ROT Rally)."

Hourly Rates for all police services for Special Events established by City Council.

Police Detective/Corporal	66.00

Note:

• There is a 2 hour minimum per officer.
• When more than three (3) APD officers are simultaneously hired, a Sergeant must be one of those additional officers. The Chief or their designee may assign up to five (5) officers for traffic control assignments (e.g., lane closures) without utilizing a Sergeant. ‘Bubbles’ will require at one (1) Sergeant when more than three (3) officers are required.
• For larger events, a Sergeant is required for every ten (10) officers hired (e.g., 20 officers = 2 Sergeants; 30 officers = 3 Sergeants).
• Vehicles can not be rented by themselves (at least officer is required per vehicle)
• The vehicle rental fees will not be charged if the use of a Marked Unit is not integral to the safety of the project being worked
