Watch Your Car Month

Monday, July 06, 2009

The Austin Police Department with the Texas Auto & Burglary Theft Prevention Authority announces “Watch Your Car” Month.

Each year in Texas there are thousands of individuals who lose their identity, their means of transportation, their sense of safety and well-being, and sometimes their lives to vehicle-related crimes.  These crimes are occurring right in front of their homes, at shopping malls, daycares, hospitals, parks, and fitness center parking lots.

It’s a known fact…where you go, vehicle criminals are also going.

Most of these crimes can be prevented if drivers would take a few minutes to hide their belongings, lock their vehicles and take their keys.

The Texas Auto Burglary and Theft Prevention Authority and the Austin Police Department are helping to spread the word to “Hide, Lock & Take” during July, which is “WATCH YOUR CAR” month.

Your support during the month of July is critical in helping to reduce vehicle burglaries and thefts.

Remember…you hold the “Key” to preventing vehicle burglary and theft in your community.

Thank you for your support.

For any information regarding the July “Watch Your Car” month, please contact Diana Amaro at (512) 974-5713.
