On September 21, 2009, the City Council of Bellaire, Texas adopted Ordinance No. 09-061 fixing the tax rate and tax levy for tax year 2009 (the fiscal year beginning October 1, 2009 and ending September 30, 2010) at $0.3759 per $100.00 valuation apportioned $0.2639 to the General Fund for the purpose of paying maintenance and operations expenditures and $0.1120 to the Debt Service Fund for the purpose of paying the accruing interest and to provide a Sinking Fund for payment of the bond indebtedness of the City. THE CITY OF BELLAIRE ADOPTED A TAX RATE THAT WILL RAISE MORE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS THAN LAST YEAR’S TAX RATE.

THE TAX RATE WILL EFFECTIVELY BE RAISED BY -0.12 PERCENT AND WILL RAISE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS ON A $100,000 HOME BY APPROXIMATELY -$1.10.

This statement, including the example calculation on a $100,000 home, is required by changes to the Tax Code enacted in the 81st Regular and/or First called sessions and is posted in the language and format to comply with the new requirements. The apportionment of the tax rate to the General Fund for maintenance and operations - $0.2639 per $100.00 valuation – is lower than last year’s equivalent rate of $0.2650 but will raise more taxes than last year’s rate as a result of the increase in taxable values in the City of Bellaire.

Saturday, October 10, 2009 Bellaire United Methodist Church Cub Scout Pack 130 and Boy Scout Troop 222 are collecting non-perishable food donations. Place donations in a bag or sack near your font door, in a location easily visible from the street, by 9am on Saturday the 10th. Food will be delivered to Christian Community Service Center.

Traffic will be one way, westbound only through the construction zone on Sunburst from Newcastle to Avenue B. Avenue B traffic to Sunburst will be Detoured east at Fournace to Newcastle, then north to Sunburst. Detour signage will be in place. The gate on Sunburst at Newcastle has been removed to provide access from Newcastle and will be replaced after the reconstruction of Sunburst is complete.
