House Bill 1614 requiring certain events to be reported to the department on an annual basis expired on September 1, 2007. Proposed changes to the Patient Safety Program Reporting Requirements sections of the licensing rules for General and Special Hospitals, Private Psychiatric Hospitals, Crisis Stabilization Units and Ambulatory Surgery Centers, are expected to follow in the next several months. In the meantime, effective immediately, facilities are no longer required to send a Patient Safety Annual Occurrence or Best Practices Report to the department. However, the department does encourage facilities to continue to comply with the Patient Safety Program requirements other than the Annual Occurrence and Best Practices reporting sections.
