Boerne is located only 22 miles northwest of San Antonio in the foothills of the Texas hill country. Our city is a blend of small town charm, historic architecture, nature conservation, and community growth. Tourists visit Boerne year-round, our residential population continues to grow, and business development is expanding. Visitors and residents alike are inspired by our natural surroundings. Experience nature's beauty by visiting the Cibolo Nature Center,  take a trip back to our farming and ranching past by visiting the Agricultural Museum.  Meander through charming downtown Boerne and visit the gazebo and water feature at Main Plaza. Enjoy shopping and dining throughout our historic downtown, spend the day golfing at area golf resorts or hiking our hike and bike trail. Public Power Week in Boerne

 

The Mayor issued a proclamation declaring October 5-9, 2009 as Public Power week in Boerne.  The Boerne Utilities Customer Service Office will be working throughout the entire month of October to educate customers about energy conservation.  Pictured L - R:  Jeff Thompson, Mayor Dan Heckler, Michael Mann, Jill Christian, Sherrie Aguirre (at customer service window), Rick Magnard, Sandy Mattick, Joe Tippett, and Heather Rackley.

 
HISTORIC LANDMARK COMMISSION MEETING - Tuesday, October 6, 2009, 5:30 p.m.

On Tuesday, October 6, 2009, starting at 5:30 pm,  The Historic Landmark Commission will be meeting in the City Hall Council Chambers located at 402 E Blanco, Boerne, Texas 78006.

Planning & Zoning Commission Meeting - October 5, 2009 6:00 pm

The Planning and Zoning Commission will be meeting on Monday, October 5, 2009 starting at 6:00 pm. The meeting will take place in the City Hall Council Chambers located at 402 E Blanco, Boerne , Texas 78006.

Main Street Lane Closures - 9 pm to 6 am

The City has received notification from TXDOT that work will continue next week on Main Street.  From Sunday night, October 4 through Thursday night, October 9, one lane in each direction will be closed between 9 PM and 6 AM from Rosewood to Lohmann.  City crews may be working in the area during the day to relocated utilities.  Please use caution, allow yourself a little extra time, or take a different route.

 
City Boards and Commissions Vacancies

Mayor Dan Heckler is accepting applications from Boerne and Kendall County residents interested in serving on City Council appointed Boards.  There is currently one (1) vacany on the Library Advisory Board resulting from a Board member resignation.  Due to transitioning the Hotel/Motel Tax Advisory Board to a Convention and Visitors Bureau Advisory Board , there are at least 4 vacancies.  The CVB Advisory Board appointees should have experience in retail business, the restaurant/hospitality industry or marketing or advertising.  Applications are due in the Mayor's office at City Hall by Tuesday, October 13 and apppointments will be made at the October 27 City Council meeting.  Click here to download an application.

 
Wastewater Treatment Facility - Community Meeting

The City of Boerne will host another community meeting to answer questions and get feedback on the design of the new Wastewater Treatment and Water Recycling Center to be built on Old San Antonio Road.  The community meeting will be on Tuesday, October 13 at the Boerne Convention and Community Center beginning at 5:30 pm.   Click here to learn more about this project.  Please download the questionnaire and bring it to the meeting with you.

Free Event at Main Plaza

Bring the family to Main Plaza on Saturday, October 17 between 10 am and 1 pm to enjoy  FREE Halloween Fun in support of local Boerne businesses.  There will be live music, kid's halloween games, a costume contest, trick or treating, and food provided by some of Boerne's best restaurants.  The event is hosted by Emerge Boerne - A Young Professionals Forum.

National Night Out - Tuesday, October 6

Join your neighbors for National Night Out celebrations in Boerne on Tuesday, October 6.  Contact the Boerne Police Department at 249-8645 to register your neighborhood event. 

 
FREE Fitness Program

The Boerne Parks and Recreation Department is sponsoring a FREE fitness program, with 1 hour workouts, every Tuesday and Thursday at Main Plaza.  Workouts are directed by Andrew Magallanez and his wife Laurie Webb;  evenings 7pm - 8pm.  Bring your own water, towel, exercise mat and wear comfortable clothes.   Click here to view the workout routines.

 
Stage 2 Water Restriction for Boerne

All Boerne Water Utility customers are reminded that we are in Stage 2 water restrictions due to the ongoing drought conditions.  Landscape watering with sprinklers and irrigation systems is limited to one day per week according to your street address.  To report watering violations click here.

Skate Park Design

The Boerne Skatepark, to be located at the new park site on Adler and Toepperwein, is designed and construction will begin in the fall.  The skatepark has been designed with lots of input from the local skateboarders.  Check it out here!

ENVIRONMENTAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Burn Ban for all of Kendall County has been lifted as of 09/11/09.

 Stage 2 Water Alert conservation measures for City of Boerne Water Utility Customers are still in effect - landscape watering, with sprinklers, is only allowed 1 day per week according to your street address.

  City Lake level is 31' 9"  -  normal full level is 42 feet. The lowest recorded level was approximately 30 feet in 1989.
