In Memory of John Paul Pitts

For over 17 years, Mr. Pitts served as oil editor for the Midland Reporter-Telegram in addition to many more years of service at newspapers and energy publications in Texas and Colorado.

Journalism serves many purposes in our democratic society-the most important of which is to inform, to educate and to encourage a well-informed public.

Throughout his career, John Paul was committed to doing just that-striving to offer a more complete understanding of the economic, cultural and historic importance of the oil and gas industry to the state and the people of Texas.
