New Standards of Practice and Report Form for Inspectors - At its meeting on October 27, 2008, the Texas Real Estate Commission adopted revised standards of practice for inspectors, as well as a new required inspection report form for 1- to 4-family residential property. These revisions, recommended by the Inspector Committee after three years of development, became effective February 1, 2009. Legislative Change Requires Education and Experience to become an Inspector under the Fast Track method - House Bill 1530 modifies the education and experience alternative (fast track) method to obtain a real estate inspector license.
Effective September 1, 2007, applicants for the Real Estate Inspector and Professional Inspector license who apply under the fast track alternative method must provide proof of both education and experience. |

Paths to an Inspector License - There are three levels of inspector licensure: Apprentice Inspector, Real Estate Inspector, and Professional Inspector. To obtain a Real Estate Inspector or a Professional Real Estate Inspector license you have a choice of two paths: the Three-Tier progression, and the Education/Experience Alternative.
